The zoo's pockets are pretty full. A lot of money is spent on theming works. Lots of wood carvings, animal statues and at least 3 old jeeps were bought in recent years for decorative purposes.
Not the best way for a zoo to use excess money of course, but the whole zoological organisation in Singapore is run like a business now. Not surprising when the people who run it look at Disney's Animal Kingdom as the ideal model.
