Zooish 9 Nov 2009 Yup, its a Malayan Water Monitor (Varanus salvator). They've become pests at the zoo, sometimes preying on waterfowl. The other wild species in Singapore is the smaller and rather shy Clouded Monitor (Varanus nebulosa).
