A zookeeper delivering fresh browse to the Colobus and Patas Monkeys. At its shallowest point, the moat is only about shin-deep, yet it is enough to deter the monkeys from escaping.

Zooish Is there anything in the water at all or are they just water barriers I was thinking of fish or other water life?

I remember years ago watching staff from the aquarium in Artis zoo fishing out water fleas or Daphne from the moat of the monkey enclosures to feed the tropical fish on display in the aquariums.

There are loads of fish in the moat (and all the wet moats at the zoo for that matter). Mostly tilapia, as well as iridescent sharks in this particular moat. The tilapia are used as food for some of the animals.

Thanks for the reply Zooish, it's rather a neat way to help keep down costs if you can raise your own zoo food.
