Where are the three species of Chevrotain (Mouse-deer) in Singapore Zoo? I have only seen them in the Fragile Forest aviary and according to the signage they are Lesser Mouse-deer (Tragulus kanchil).

the species in this photo are in the Small Mammal House (I can't remember its real name). The sort of tunnelly house with glass-fronted enclosures for leopard cat, ground squirrels, giant squirrels, etc.

As well as the Critter Longhouse, which Chlidonias said, there are also some in the Treetops trail, by the Siamangs. When I visited, there were Greater Mousedeer (Tragulus napu) in the Treetops exhibit, Yellow-striped Mousedeer (Moschiola kathygre) in the Critters Longhouse, and Lesser Mousedeer (Tragulus kanchil) in the Fragile Forest. Yellow-striped Mousedeer (Moschiola kathygre) were also on display in the Night Safari, but I think the signage indicated that they were different species, as one zoo had not updated its signs.

I think that the Singapore ones are actually kathygre yes, but formerly they were labelled as meminna (possibly still are). Below is a video I made of them when they were meminna :)

That's a cool video Chlidonias, they certainly had a good number of mousedeer in the exhibit then, I don't remember seeing that many on my visit. I like the pigeon too.

it was filmed on the video option of a point-and-shoot digital rather than a proper video camera so its kind of grainy. From memory it took two hours to upload it to youtube in an internet cafe in Jakarta!!

I thought there were too many in the enclosure for its size, so I'm happy they moved some elsewhere.

Very cool little animals though.

(And yes, Critter Longhouse was the name of the "small mammal house" :D)

I seem to have missed the Critters House on my two visits!
oh no! It is great. For me the enclosures are all rather too small, but it is one of my favourite parts of the zoo. Some nice species in there.

Just had a look at the map: it is just by the Komodo dragons and false gharials.

Also I know that some Indian zoos have Indian spotted chevrotains as did a few european zoos, those zoos were Berlin, Dresden, Frankfurt, Hannover, Cologne, Leipzig, Paris, Rome, Rotterdam, London and Knowsley Safari park, the ones in Europe may have been Sri lankan spotted because of the scientific name that Zootierliste lists them as

Apologies for being pedantic but it is worth pointing out that references to chevrotains at Knowsley relate to animals in the private menagerie of Lord Stanley, the Earl of Derby, not to Knowsley Safari Park.

The Earl of Derby had a wonderful animal collection at Knowsley; he died in 1851 (and the animals in his menagerie sold) about 120 years before Knowsley Safari Park opened.
