Gibbon Island - Buff-cheeked Gibbon exhibit

A minor makeover of an old exhibit, mainly to reshape and re-surface the moat that was eroding. Shelter was also added to the walkway. It now houses Buff-cheeked Gibbons, Brown-headed Spider Monkeys, Red-ruffed Lemurs and Caribbean Flamingos.

The Buff-cheeked Gibbon islands are in the foreground, with the flamingos in the background.

Hi I'm a new ZooChat member. Does anyone know the whereabouts of the lar gibbons and gangsa the agile gibbon previously exhibited at gibbon islands?

I also can't wait to see the buff-cheeked gibbons. First time a Nomascus species is being exhibited at the zoo?

Hi Semno, welcome! The lar and agile gibbons have been moved to the off-show facility north of the Zoo's carpark. I think it is the first time that the zoo is exhibiting Nomascus gibbons, although the pair on display now have been under the zoo's care for several years in the off show area.

Yea I remember reading they had acquired a pair of the buff-cheeked gibbons in the WRS yearbook several years ago. Wonder why it took so long to finally put them on display? I also wish the zoo would display the purple-faced langurs.
