Humboldts penguin (Spheniscus humboldti) enclosure

August 2013
An interestingly designed Fisher Price playground for penguins, complete with slide, yellow sunflowers and what looks like a couple of giant tomatoes/apples.

There were total 10 Humboldt penguins there when they first arrived in the aquarium from Japan. But since then, successful breeding made the population up to 36.

Trippy isn't the word. Most people would need to be on hard, hard drugs to imagine this as a home for animals designed to come ashore off the coasts of Peru and Chile...

Humboldt's Penguin....

if they're breeding as well as that, maybe it's quite a good enclosure from a penguin point of view. Or the husbandry is good.

I think it's fine but I have just taken a sheet of acid... :p
