The group of Russian tortoises lives in the dry moat between elephants and visitors path. They originate from an illegal import, the custom service placed them into the zoo but no tortoise exhibit was available, so they ended in the elephant house. There is a cooling box with glass doors in the hall so the visitors can observe the tortoises even during the hibernation in the winter months.
