Raja is one of the most famous elephants at the orphanage. The other is Sama, a female who had her foot blown off by a landmine when attempting to raid a farmer's crops. I was not able to get a photo of her.
Is Raja totally blind zooboyabroad or can he make out shapes do you know? Also how far can he roam, I see he is chained, are all the other older free roaming elephants or are they a mixed herd? Raja and Asian bulls are a lot different in appearance to the cows aren't they, he looks almost prehistoric, compared to the cows.

Raja was totally blind in both eyes unfortunately. And Raja was unchained for 4 hours every day to be taken to a nearby river for the daily elephant river bath, which has made the orphanage very popular. Other than that he had to be chained in his little shed for his own protection and for the protection of staff, visitors and the other free-roaming elephants. I hope that answers your question dean.
That is really sad! Raja was actually the orphanage's oldest elephant until now. He was also probably the most well-known and popular elephant at the orphanage, due to him being completely blind in both eyes and him being the orphanage's largest elephant with the most impressive tusks by far. I also think that Raja was the only adult bull elephant in the orphanage. But how did you know that he died Iberthung and do you know how he died?

Sad to know now that Raja has since died,Iberthung hopefully it was in a natural and peaceful state after his restricted life.
