It appears that there are no longer any Bale Mountains Vervets left in captivity. At my last visit (last Saturday), their enclosure at Jihlava was occupied by the Campell Guenons. Bewildered, I asked one of the zookeepers, who told me that the last specimen had recently fallen sick and had to be put down.
