bird market -- Chatuchak Weekend Market, Jan 2014

collared scops owl and barred owlets. There were lots of these two species of owls at the market sadly.

There's a hill mynah in the cage underneath. In the background you can make out an oriole (I saw both black-naped and slender-billed orioles at the market -- the latter I have not even seen in the wild yet).

Two very nice species; although neither is found within Europe now I have seen the Cuckoo Barred-Owlet at Muncaster in the past.

Have never seen the Collared Scops-owl, but have seen the close relatives Otus bakkamoena and Otus lempiji.
