Rather different in appearance to the Japanese species on exhibit here in Los Angeles. A species with a much thicker coat, and probably the only variety seen in the Western Hemisphere, if I remember from viewing ISIS correctly. Which is unfortunate. I find Serows extremely fascinating.
 
yes they do look quite different. The maned serow is a rainforest species, hence the thinner coat.
