I really liked one of the signs for this enclosure which had a photo from that viewpoint and highlighted the most likely areas you'll find the caracal if it's not clearly visible.
Given that I've never heard the term 'scrub biome' in any other context at all, certainly not with particular reference to caracal, might I detect the hand of Zoo Tycoon 2 in your background?
The 'biomes' (and a lot of the other features) given in that game are largely made up. Whale Sharks are certainly not 'benthic', and caracals are found anywhere from thick forest to semi-desert. There are also no nice, neat distinctions between 'grassland', 'scrub' and 'savannah'.
And if you ever played the first game, markhors are really not so picky as all that.
Because someone at the games company can cut-and-paste. I suspect that even if you read that it must address the fact that caracals aren't just 'scrub' animals.
Because, despite having a lifelong interest in wildlife and zoos, and spending three years acquiring a Zoology with Animal Ecology BSc and a further year acquiring a Masters in Ecology, I never, ever, so much as once heard the phrase 'scrub biome' in any other context than that fun but necessarily simplified and scientifically unreliable game. And certainly not in close association with caracal.
