The bird collection is very good. I understand that it was previously even better but it is still surprisingly good now. You may be aware that the zoo has a tremendously successful hornbill breeding programme. Also of interest are the birds of paradise - three species currently left at the zoo (twelve-wired & lesser BoPs and magnificent riflebird). They also have a single-wattled cassowary. The highlight of this aviary are the less common green (& colourful) native species which camouflage into the trees. Other groups of birds are still well-represented though, as you can see.
Thank you. To be honest I've avoided Thailand on previous trips to the region. Although I have always wanted to visit the clouded leopard facility here; it wasn't quite enough to make the detour into Thailand. This aviary looks fantastic.
Are the Birds of Paradise confiscations?
Thank you for taking the time to post the detailed species list and upload the additional photographs.

You're welcome, no problem at all. I think the BoPs might be confiscations but I'm not sure. Those formerly on display in Malaysia were all confiscations.
Thailand is definitely worth a visit if you're in the region. Just make sure you know what you're looking for.
Fair enough FBBird, it just didn't come across that way (btw smilies are a good way of indicating what you really mean). Anyway I very much appreciate all your ID help, along with Vogelcommando, Devilfish and others and when I get back from here on Thursday I'll hopefully have plenty of images for you to rack your brains over.
Wow, thanks for the list! Managed to get hold of a mates yute for a couple of days so planning to come here Wednesday and Thursday. So excited I probably won't be able to sleep tonight.

That was quick! Let me know if you have any questions at all.
A benefit of the two-day stay is the opportunity to visit the cat complex and show with an 'after dark' tour. I was disappointed not to have been able to make it. Sounds good though (despite photographic difficulties), so give it a try if you can.
