I really like this viewing area, with assorted tree branches and stones piled in all directions. Visitors can become immersed in the habitat of the leopards before there is an opportunity to actually locate one of the cats.

Yes, this does look very nicely done - although I must admit that when I visited Jihlava last year I was rather unimpressed. This may have been down to circumstances - it was astonishingly hot, I was in a bit of a hurry, it was very crowded - so I feel I should give it another go. These photos make that desire greater. What did you think of the place, Ralph?

I liked it overall. Unlike you, I had quite cold, grey and dark weather and was almost alone at the park. I'm sure it looks a lot better in sunny, not-too-hot weather.

Some parks of the zoo were great (I liked the gibbon/babirussa enclosure, sun bears, the new Rainforest Pavillion, the savannah, the Australian house, striped hyena enclosure and the Amazon-themed building) others were not (lemur indoor enclosures, raven aviary, the cat house and the reasonably new fennec/sand cat enclosures, which were just too small). The different nocturnal exhibits were all alright, except for a very small enclosure for Garnett's galago. The worst part was however the extremely tiny pygmy hippo indoor enclosure. It probably couldn't even fit a second hippo.
