Zoo Jihlava 0/2016: Cat House indoor enclosures

Zoo Jihlava has a huge collection of wild cats. In addition to those in the cat house, the zoo also keeps European lynxes, sand cats in the Africa house, snow leopards and Persian leopards in the Himalayas area, and caracal, Pallas\' cat, jungle cat and European wild cat.

Loving your pictures.
Some of the design decisions at this zoo are fascinating. Aside from whether these enclosures are suitable for the animals, the public space is very inventive.

You know that is a good point. I was so disappointed with the seemingly sterile animal rooms that I did not even notice the visitor walkway that simulates a forest path.

That is assuming you are in a forest with vending machines!

Weird; you have a leafy, naturalistic visitor areas, and sterile, synthetic animal exhibits that remind me of the dressing rooms in my elementary school gym...

It happens fairly often in old zoo buildings in czech republic. Sterile inner exhibits were easier to clean and functionality was the most important aspect of designing zoo buildings in 1960-1970s.
