Owl, Jihlava Zoo

This from a recent visit to Jihlava (July, 2016).

is this a rusty-barred owl?

It *could* be a Rusty-banded Owl, as it does look similar in some ways to this species, although I cannot be sure as i have only ever seen adult individuals and my copy of Konig & Weick (which may have illustrations of juvenile individuals) is not at my current location

However, one detail which would tend to suggest it might not be a Rusty-barred Owl is the dark border to the facedisc; adult individuals of the species do not demonstrate such a border, as the following image shows:

Thinking on it, it could be a young Great Horned Owl - those definitely do have the dark facedisc border, and similar barring.
