When I first read that my mind assumed California, which I've been to a lot.
Haha, but I was in Cali, Columbia at the end of February. Only spent a half day there, and only at the Zoo. Landed in Cali around 9am, and flew back to Bogota later that day around 5pm.
What other Zoos/Wildlife related things did you visit on your recent trip to South America??
Unfortunately we didn't have much of an opportunity to see a lot while we were there - quite restricted by looking after a 3 year old and an 8 month old!
Other than Cali Zoo, we did visit the Quindio Botanic Gardens near Armenia (Coffee Region) and the Parque Jaime Duque Zoo, about an hour north of Bogota.
Back in 2009 we also managed to visit Zoologico Santacruz, about an hour south of Bogota, but we ran out of time to visit again this trip.
We plan on returning when the kids are a little older - I want to try and visit some of the national parks as well as tracking down some of the smaller zoos in regional areas.
Ah very nice. I also got about an hour an a half at Jaime Duque. Did you see the Merida and Brown Brocket Deer they have there?? Any unique mammal species at Quindio Botanic Gardens??
It was raining a lot the day we were at the botanic gardens, so we only saw about 10 different species of native bird at one of the bird hides they have.
