This photo was taken by my dad in 1986, 24 years ago, well before the digital age. Had this been in the digital age, I would not have kept this photo, but then I would have been able to take 10-15 photos of the Cheetah, pick the best and throw away the rest. The Cheetah was pacing fast, so not easy to take photos, even for you with your mobile. And last thing: this was the first time I saw a Cheetah in my life so this photo is important for me for that reason.
I remember my excitement almost as if this had been yesterday; I was five and visiting my first real zoo! 137 zoos later and I may not be quite as excited at the sight of a Cheetah as I was back then, but the memory of the first one still warms me.
I remember my first visit to Aalborg Zoo back in 1998. I was just a kid back then and had recently started my interest in zoos. On the same trip I did the North Sea Oceanarium, Givskud Zoo and Odense Zoo.
Aalborg Zoo had already gotten rid of their cheetahs by the time I visited, but I too remember the thrill of seeing my first cheetah in Hannover Zoo in 2001.
