Would these be amongst the animals that were controversially imported a year or two back?

What is this zoo like, Carlos? Your photos suggest something a little like an Eastern European zoo in the 1980s, with some nice open exhibits and a number of rather unattractive cages. Fair comment?

most of the african animals shown here are from the Namibian import. I think this a red hartebeest by the way, which are found in Namibia.
Your observation is correct. That is exactly what the zoologico nacional de cuba is like. When i have the time i will write a review on Zoologico Nacional de Cuba, zoologico de Havana and Acuario nacional.

There is a single individual at Wroclaw, the last survivor of the group sent there from Hannover some years ago.

I saw 4 hartebeest at the zoologico nacional. The website of zoologico nacional shows this species with a juvenile, but i am not certain if the juvenile was born in this havanna colection. They were shy and not near the road that the bus or guagua travelled. I did not realize how rare these antelope are when i was at the zoologico nacional.

Red Hartebeest can also be found in at least one exotic ranch in Texas, USA.
