Are these and White Uakaris widely seen in South American zoos? I have seen the Red ones in LA in 2003 and fortunately have pictures; I also saw the White ones in Cologne in 1999 and 2002 but have no pictures and they have since then died.
They're not really widely seen, I know Huachipa has a couple of animals off show, I'm not sure about white uakaris though. There are a number of rescue centres (e.g. Amazon Animal Orphanage and Pilpintuwasi Butterfly Farm in Iquitos Peru), as well as the occassional zoo or primate breeding centre which has them, but of the six zoos I visited last summer, only one exhibited uakaris.
