[i]Strelitzia[/i] sp. ([i]reginae[/i]?)
Widely-grown to the point of ubiquity in Tenerife.
I've been learning about these. The blue part contains the petals and sexual parts of the flower; the orange bits are sepals. The base part that petals and sepals emerge from is the spathe and is extra tough to provide a perch for the sunbirds that are the natural pollinators.
