I like the idea too, with two species of hyena in the house and one cage devoted to a rare canid, though neither animal welfare nor visitor safety seem to be an issue...
When the photo was taken it was home to spotted and striped hyena and Egyptian jackals. As of 2013, the jackals had been moved elsewhere, many cages had been merged (giving double the area, which is still small), and some plant matter added to each cage.
These cages are inhumane. But, I do like the idea of a house just for the hyenas and jackals! But, this place is a concentration camp. Thankfully, it’s just the indoor holding area. Do you know what species they house? I believe the Giza Zoo has Striped Hyenas, correct?
