polar bear
Sorry devilfish...my sources are a bit sketchy, and I'm not even sure where I heard this information. Do the dates of when the zoos had polar bears coincide? An animal tranfer between the two zoos is quite commonplace. I just hope he/she didn't die at the zoo - it would be a terrible fate for a polar bear to never get the chance to taste the tundra.

Actually it wouldn't 'be a terrible fate for a Polar Bear never to touch the tundra'. However, that bear will have a better life if it has space to run around, substrate to dig in, opportunity to work [forage or problem solve] for its food, and the chance to interact with other bears. The 'tundra' bit is neither here nor there.

While experiencing actual tundra is unlikely, the bear would have a better life for the reasons you mentioned and would be better off in a cooler environment than Egypt.

Where does this polar bear came from? I think it is almost impossible to keep this polar bear in Egypt without getting it from Russian or Canadian government as a gift.

There is a number of trained polar bears in russian circuses, the most likely source.

The bear came out of the Tierpark Berlin. The zoo was in 1993 and 1994 respectively after a male polar bear Giza.

Why is this animal being housed like this? How is that cage even still standing? I don’t see anything wrong with them keeping a Polar Bear, but the cage is pathetic. Do they still have the Polar Bear? If not, where did it go? That animal looks terrible underweight. I would like to know where the animal is now. How is it doing? Is the animal still alive? I’m sorry, but I just can’t get over how poorly this animal is being treated. Like I said, there is nothing wrong with them keeping a Polar Bear, but the animal is in a wretched confine and is too thin. In all honesty, the animal would thrive better in a cooler environment. Where did the Giza Zoo obtain this animal? I bet it came from a circus.

as has been said with another of your post, please just do us the courtesy of reading the threads attached to the photos before posting. There are no prizes for rate of posting, so slow down and read first.
