What an amazing and beautiful creature! I absolutely LOVE Mountain Nyalas. Most certainly one of my favorite animals!!

I know you can't see the expression on my face, but this is my jealous face. My very jealous face! :D

Great shot!

The only way how to see them...go to Ethiopia. I really recommend Bale NP. The first thing you will see in the morning when you look out of your tent build right in the park headquarter will be Mountain nyala, warthog, Mountain Reedbuck or Menelicks Bushbuck. There are still plenty of them. And if you go right to mountains...it is the best and one of the last place to watch Ethiopian wolves.

I always thought mountain nyala were an incredibly endangered species, but by the sounds of it, plenty at Bale NP.

I just say there are plenty of Mountain nyalas in Bale =)... yet around Dodola village and may be in some other small areas of Bale region ...but not much nyalas at all. They are one of that species which are extremely endangered because of overall small population (2000-5000), but locally they are abundant. In fact controlled hunting is allowed.
I absolutely agree...one of the nicest and most elegant creatures.

Great photo. Hunting trips look easy to arrange although expensive. It seems a shame that if they are being shot that a few can't be caught alive for ex situ breeding. They may be locally abundant but the situation could change with catastrophic events like foot and mouth or war.

This outfit also includes giant eland, bongo, and giant forest hogs in its shooting itineraries :(
