Ethiopian Squirrel ID

Taken October 2013, on a coffee plantation somewhere south of Addis Ababa (Can\'t remember the name of the place)

Your squirrel is barely visible. Hopefully there's only one species in Ethiopia!

There basically is (one tree squirrel anyway)! It's a Gambian Sun Squirrel (Heliosciurus gambianus).

Might also be worth mentioning that the Gambian sun squirrels in Ethiopia differ in both appearance and habitat compared to those elsewhere and may well end up as a separate species. If eventually split, the Ethiopian species would be called Heliosciurus multicolor, but until then it is Heliosciurus gambianus multicolor.

Indeed - they're missing the stripy tail, most visibly.
