@Maguari, any idea about their total numbers at Senkelle now?

I know when I travelled there the Plains contained only perhaps 20 odd Swayne's hartebeest and the area was literally swamped with nomadic pastorlists and their livestock. The latter being one of the major limiting factors for Swayne's hartebeest and other wildlife at the time!
 
There are about 600-700 hartebeest here currently, I believe.

We saw very few 'incursions' into the sanctuary - just a very small number of cattle (less than 10) and a few locals picking grass stems for handicrafts.
