aliza the bear

Aliza is one out of 4 syrian brown bears in our zoo.
she was born 13 years ago in our zoo and was the first baby bear cub in the new zoo.
as you can see her color is realy pale, almost white. that's why alot of people ask if she is a polar bear.

Very nice photo of Aliza! I saw a Syrian bear for the first time in Vienna Zoo in December last year. It lives next to the polar bears so then it's easy to see the difference

yes. but for the regular visitor its hard...espcially because most of them never met a polar bear in perosne

I didn't even know they still existed. Is the gene pool muddled with hybrids as with the Asiatic lions in the US? Any left in the wild?

yes...in Iran in other north middle eastern countries....i am not sure about the hybrids
