Nightjar?

Near Nairobi National Park
Maybe Pennant-winged? Note that the underside of the belly also had some faint bands along it.

I've just checked the sounds of the different nightjars that are found in the area, and I definitely heard Pennant-winged during the night which may or may not be this one of course.

Definitely a nightjar, but good luck with a more precise ID!

According to this page, the only species of Nightjar found in Nairobi National Park is Eurasian:
Bird Checklist for Nairobi National Park

So I guess it has to be that?

that checklist is wrong/incomplete. Some quick googling shows that there are a number of nightjars recorded there, including European, dusky, montane and sombre (e.g. all of those are noted on https://fonnap.wordpress.com/2011/05/07/photo-competition-answers-1-goatsucker-but-which-one/)
