Phelsuma madagascariensis, the giant madagascar day gecko. Although the commonest gecko in zoos, they are not very common here, although they can be found everywhere.

lintworm this looks a darker specimen than usual, was the photo taken early in the day as it was warming up, or are native species darker in general ? A great shot either way.
 
This is a gecko of the nominate subspecies, so another one than you see in most zoos (grandis). But this gecko was changing its color a bit darker when I was taking pictures of it :p, so it reflects is mood. I have seen this species also in bright green. So the color is mostly due to me trying to take pictures :p
 
Thanks for the reply lintworm, I wondered about the colouring. I used to breed these so I'm always interested in seeing their wild cousins.
