Interesting. I have just returned from SA (see some of my photos from Pretoria Zoo) and also visited Jburg zoo (last week - 20/10/11). This huge building is still not open to the public! I thought it had just been completed! Does anyone know the score with this? I did sneak around the back and it does appear to have planted enclosures inside (although didn't see any animals).
Very odd that such a massive new development should be shut to the public for over a year!
The map still shows it as a new building. Wsa it ever open to the public??
@Newzooboy The building opened in 2006 but closed in 2009 to add the aquarium and some more reptile Exhibits, I'm not sure why it remained shut so long but there is your answer. it reopened in early 2012
