Did you stay here? If so, how is it looking? I was there on December 31st 1999, and had a fantastic time - not least because of the rather wonderful faded grandeur of the place, which stood in stark contrast to the more luxurious upmarket lodges elsewhere. There were some great walks to be had nearby, with v good birding and some rather nice mammals too. I understand it has been improved a great deal since then - hopefully not at the expense of its character!
It looks good, and is very upmarket now. The Bradt guide to Northern Tanzania (3rd ed.) lists it not as "Upmarket", but "Exclusive". The decor isn't faded, it's retro. But the exteriors fit right in with the surroundings, looking like some colonial farmhouses.
