Southern Gerenuk

Taken from a bush area/game reserve near to my camp which was near Arusha and Mt Meru, Tanzania. The driver of the vehicle said it was an impala but the neck seemed too long to me so I though it could be a gerenuk.

As the vehicle drove away the animal got down from eating its leaves and I managed to get a photo. Because it is bad quality, I will just upload it as an attachment.

This is certainly a Gerenuk :) to be precise, a Southern Gerenuk (Litocranius walleri), which is the taxon more commonly found in captive collections.

Thank you both, this is the species that I wanted it to be and that adds another lifer for the trip. :)

definitely a gerenuk. Don't you love guides who can't identify the animals....
