Southern Gerenuk

Gerenuk aren't supposed to be found in Arusha National Park - they prefer a drier environment. Are you sure this wasn't Tarangire?

It was neither in Arusha NP or Tarangire. It was in an area of bush owned privately in which the natural habitat was preserved and the native wildlife protected from poaching or any other threats. The habitat was pretty much identical to Tarangire in terms of relief, vegetation etc. though there was no permanent water supply so I believe that the ponds that dry out at certain times of year are filled up by people. I will write up more about this place in my trip review :)

OK, your first post in this thread said it was near Arusha and Mt Meru, which is a wetter environment.

Sorry, I must admit that I didn't know exactly her I was because I was just being driven around as part of a completely controlled tour, what I probably should have said was about an hour by car from Arusha and within view of Mount Meru.
