Oh, my bird book calls this species an African Drongo but I see that Fork-tailed Drongo is a more common name. Wikipedia lists African Drongo as an alternative name.
Fair enough - my book says "Common Drongo" is another name. As there are three species of Drongo in East Africa (and two in Tanzania) and they all look very similar, I thought you were covering your bases with "African"!

No problem, that is the sort of thing that I would do though but not on this occasion.
What are the three drongos in East Africa? My East African bird book (Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Somalia, Uganda, Djibouti and Eritrea) only lists two. What it calls African Drongo (Dicrurus adsimilis) and Square-tailed Drongo (Dicrurus ludwigii).
