It was indeed amazing to see this species spreading its wings so high up in a tree and also fantastic to see it soaring in the sky, totally unlike this species in zoos.
The Crowned Cranes are very different from the rest of the family. I always feel that if you squint and pretend you can't see the crests, you find yourself looking at a bird that's not that far off being a trumpeter.
