The walkthrough enclosure for blackbucks (Antilope cervicapra) in Givskud Zoo. In here lives a large breeding group that arrived at the zoo in 1985 and Givskud Zoo have since then sent blackbucks back to the wild in Pakistan.

For many years this exhibit also featured red-necked wallabies (Macropus rufogriseus) but these moved out a few years ago.

Never heard of a walkthrough enclosure for blackbucks. Any problems with the males and the visitors in breeding-season?

It's actually done in some Dutch zoos as well. Zooparc Overloon and Safaripark de Beekse Bergen for example and as far as I know they never had problems. So I assume they don't have problems at Givskud either :)

No, there have been no problems that I have heard of. The biggest problem with the enclosure is that the blackbucks are quite shy and mostly stick to the same side of the enclosure during the zoo's open hours. They are used to visitors just not very close.
