The species Mecistops cataphractus is on the verge of extinction in Tanzania and already extirpated in Zambia (L.Mweru). In Tanzania at least one Protected Area - also a Ramsar site - Malagarasi-Muyovozi Wetland Complex.
Hence, for me at least it would still be noteworthy to know where the specimen(s) originated from!
Aside, these species are now classed as Critically Endangered by IUCN. Allthough, officially not with - now fully recognised species themselves - both species on the roster.
