Yes, this was a typical view, although it was atypical in that there wasn't a shrub or other vegetation partially obscuring them. (Typical for this trek - I can't say this is what you would see on a typical trek). The hillside they were on, that we were climbing, was like this all over, but this hillside had been cleared of forest for agricultural purposes. It hadn't been cultivated yet and the groundcover had run wild as you can see.
Distance to the gorillas in this photo is about 4-5 metres.
