Nice picture! Never seen one myself during the day, but then they are even more awesome than at night.

This bird actually flew into a tree in the middle of our camp just as we were about to set off for the morning drive - causing a few minutes' delay! (this photo was taken at that point: http://www.zoochat.com/795/verreaux-s-eagle-owl-moremi-game-450224/ )

We'd hoped it might roost up for the day, but when we came back from the drive just before lunch the bird had gone. It soon transpired that it had roosted up locally - right over mine and robmv's tent!

We were particularly glad to see it as our guide, and only our guide, had seen one that we all missed during our Ethiopia trip.
