Jack lives in my Uncle's backyard, he has a pond and land to bask on, and a shelter and some rocks, for the pond we had to dig a hole and fill it with a plastic pond liner, we also have a filtration system for that pond. To answer your question, Malayan box turtles are not the most common turtle species in the US, but I would not say that they are the most common either

Years ago Jack used to live with my Russian tortoise and Red eared slider, but those animals past away when I was a teenager
