Unknown hawnk

Possibly a lanner falcon or a peregrine falcon ... (one was the name of their sign an other the name used at the falconry exhibition).

Definitely a Lanner...

The head shape and the distinctive black streaks behind the eyes are a dead giveaway.

Happy travels.

I agree with kc7gr, this appears to be a Lanner Falcon, Falco biarmicus. Even though it is very similar to a race of the Peregrine Falcon, the "Barbary" Falcon, Falco peregrinus pelegrinoides, one of the differences between the two is the markings on the breast. The photograph above follows the description given by both Leslie Brown and Dean Amadon in Eagles, Hawks, and Falcons of the World, Copyright 1968 The Hamlyn Publishing Group, Lmt., Great Britain and The Birds of Africa, Volume 1, by Leslie H. Brown, Emil K. Urban, and Kenneth Newman, Copyright 1982, Academic Press, London (New York edition). This is that the: "Breast and most of underparts pale pinkish, with sparse pear-shaped spots on flanks, smaller on thighs, and barring on underwing-coverts." Amadon and Brown's description is almost identical: "Breast and under side vinaceous or pinkish white, with a few pear-shaped spots on the thighs."
