Lizard ID - Botswana

Taken at Third Bridge, Moremi Game Reserve. Possibly Gerrhosaurus auritus?

I think its some kind of skink, for a Plated lizard I would say that the skin is ways to "smooth" .

Yeah, I've been back and forth on that! Trachylepis varia seems the closest skink match?

looks way too bulky for varia. Try T. striata.

Thanks Chli - couldn't find an image previously of striata that fitted but I have since, helped by the fact that I've realised the animals here would be the once-split form wahlbergii so there are more images under that name. Seems a solid fit!
