The second of two individuals. It has to be said, such an interesting taxon deserves a better enclosure than this.
Well thanks GL, but aside from the subject sitting up for me its a bit of dodgy grab shot! :)
I'm not even going to start to attempt to correct the red cast. Representative of the enclosure I'd say!

I broke my usual routine to pop into the elephant house first, just in the hope that the more I pop in the more chance I have of seeing them eventually and I was rather taken aback to see this one sitting right up and looking back at me. By the time I whipped my bag open, grabbed the camera and changed lens it was gone, but they were both quite active and duly came back. They don't sit still for long though, and a handful of frames is all I managed of each rat.

Great to see.
 
@NigeW You are too modest, both your shots are nice. You can't avoid colour casts in the bizarre mixed lighting in their enclosure. If you are lucky enough to find them eating and you have a suitable lens, then you have a chance: but you're never going to get a perfect portrait in the current circumstances.
