@Dhole dude Because the owner is former animal trader (aka smuggler) who knows people and could get the right papers to import from Hong Kong. His zoo is not member of EAZA so he doesn´t follow the recommendation to not keep this fragile species in European zoos. But to be fair they are doing well there, both females raised offspring already. And with new group in (also private) ZooParc de Beauval there is a chance for future blood exchange.
 
@Manumea - the doucs at Chleby were captive-bred at Dusit Zoo in Thailand and were quite legally and openly obtained from there.
