Detroit Zoo - Camera from the Shackleton Endurance Antarctic Exhibition - August, 2016

Wow! I would be thrilled to see Frank Hurley's camera, even if its link to Detroit Zoo is a little tenuous. The story of the Endurance expedition is one of the most remarkable of all the stories of exploration: individually and collectively Shackleton, Worsley and Crean were wonderful.

The exhibit was related to the opening of the Polk Penguin Conservation Center (Shackleton Endurance Exhibition - Detroit Zoo).

It was very powerful to see all the photographs arranged in sequence, particularly displayed in such large formats. It was an incredibly moving display and I'm so very glad I didn't skip it. I only wish I had taken pictures of the display.
