Detroit Zoo - Polk Penguin Conservation Center - September, 2016

How does it feel to be blasted by "polar air and sea mist"? Does the experience add to the overall penguin exhibit by significantly enhancing the visitor's tour?

It's more of a light mist than a blast. I'm not a fan as I worry about water on my camera, but other guests seem to enjoy it. As for the "polar air", in the summer it feels good. I'm not sure they turn the system on once the busy season is over, as I didn't notice it when I was there on late fall/December visits. I also always wonder about the flooring on the ramps becoming slippery over time, though the faux "wood planks" seem to be textured. I do enjoy the scenes on the walls, however, particularly as they change from the day scenes to the night scenes.
