BA zoo is the oldest zoo in Latin America, so it is very outdated in some parts. Other areas have been renovated. The zoo¨s closure was temporary. It has been renovated in parts,though it´s future it still very uncertain. The zoo was affected by a very strong anti - zoo moment which was combined with constant economic crisis in Argentina. In a moment of radical political transition the municipal govcernment decided to cut back many programs not considered to be a priority. The zoo was one of the first to go. Then they discovered that even closing the zoo costed money. Relocating animals is not cheap. So the zoo has reopened but the future is still not clear.yet. It would be a tragedy for Buenos Aires to lose its zoo permanently. Of course, the international press great reported the zoo´s temporary closure, but completely ignored the BA zoo reopening and the reasons it occured.
