Bonobos 1973

Ape House, external cage, Frankfurt, 30th August 1973. Scanned from a Kodachrome slide.
The female 'Margit' who is still living at Frankfurt with her baby daughter 'Salongo' who was nearly 4 months old.

@gentle lemur From memory one of only two places you could see Bonobos in Europe in those days, the other being Antwerp. I didn't see them again until a trip to San Diego some years later, they were still a rarity in the States too at that time.

@Pertinax Yes indeed; a few days after I took these photos of the first bonobos I had ever seen, I took some of the ones at Antwerp. I have just posted a few of them in the Antwerp gallery :)

The old Ape House is now the building that houses some vultures and other birds of prey, correct?
