How is the bull yard in Cinci? From what I have seen it looks rather pathetic with a dusty yard, small space, shallow pool and ugly metal fencing. The cow yard looks much better.

@pachyderm pro It's rather what I would call a pointless use of space and money to even have built it - especially since further breeding plans failed. It was actually originally and temporarily built for Cheetahs not too long ago (surprisingly I never saw it). If I had to compare it to another exhibit, it would be Louisville's elephant habitat pre/post renovation

@Moebelle Are you referring to the original cheetah run yard, which was indeed, situated here, on the site of the old elephant demonstration yard... It has been many years since that was the case! The bull yard was absolutely intended to be a yard for Sabu from its inception, and it was a feature of the zoo's previous masterplan. That said, @pachyderm pro, I don't disagree with anything said. It is a very small yard with a very small pool (with the waterfall feature, it's more of a shower, really!). They have been doing a lot of work recently to implement more enrichment, piles of sand, etc, but I will be very glad to see the yard expanded with forthcoming renovation of Elephant Reserve.

@Kudu21 & @Moebelle Thank you both for your detailed responses. I agree that the green fences look nearly identical to Louisville's measly yard. If both of the yards looked like Sabu's, iIt would be a rather ugly exhibit. The females have a much more spacious yard that has some surprisingly lush outskirts. I will be interested to hear about the future renovations made to the reserve.
