Gorilla Exhibit

March 18th, 2016.
I am amazed at how well this exhibit ages- it looks like a lock for top five gorilla exhibit in the country yet the dungeon in Buffalo was built two years after this and Brookfield's Tragic World three years after

@GraysonDP : This exhibit is incredible because it is literally impossible to figure out where the enclosure ends with the lush backdrop. The only downside is that a couple of aging gorillas are often the inhabitants while next door (in the second, much smaller exhibit) is a family troop. That second enclosure might be smaller but it plays host to the most visitors as the family dynamics of the apes are great to watch. Sometimes the overall experience of watching gorillas in an adequate but not fantastic enclosure (such as at Gladys Porter Zoo) can be a thrilling experience. I've never liked the look of the big Howletts metal cages (UGH!) but I would still love to see the large gorilla troops acting naturally at that zoo.
